For the longest time I thought this was a cute saying left over from a hippy era and part of my friend Becky’s email signature…Just that.
Boy, was I wrong!
It all started with a Facebook application thingy that I sent to Becky wishing her Peace, Love, and Happiness. :)
Since it was part of Becky’s email signature and she liked the little card I sent her through Facebook, I decided to make her a cross stitched magnet. I had a dilemma though since I wanted to make two different versions and she is only one person.
When I showed her the pattern she cried and said that her daughter had a best friend in high school who was killed by a drunk driver. The girls always used the line, “Peace, Love, and Happiness” with each other.
Now I understood the importance and the sentiment behind the saying! Since the friend’s death this simple saying has become an anchor and a means of remembering a loved one. The meaning has grown into a mantra so to speak for comforting those that have loved and lost.
Some of you know that my niece was murdered in 2002 and I have recently begun a cross stitched memorial in her honor. When we loose someone so traumatically, even the most simple things remembered about them become so precious and invaluable.
One of these magnets is for my friend. The other will be for her daughter who has lost more than any person should. Believe me, I know the feeling. Time doesn’t take away the pain but I hope you smile and remember your friend when you look at these magnets.
I made them with love for you both.
